Last night, Lindsay came over with sewing machine in hand, and we made Christmas tree skirts—or started to, anyway.
I don't even have a Christmas tree and probably won't get one since my cats would run off with the ornaments or eat the tree's needles and leave little piles of green vomit all around the house for me to clean up. (Gross, but true.) I guess the other option would be to just put the two of them in cages the whole month of December, but that just seems cruel.
I don't have good pictures to share with you (just what I took with Instagram on my iPhone), but here's my dining room table with stacks of fabric spread out as Lindsay and I each decided on our respective designs:
Lindsay is making a scalloped edge tree skirt made of long strips of fabric. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of her progress to share, but it's going to look kind of like this one. Mine is going to have little houses around the edges kind of like this one. The rectangles in the pictures below will be the houses.
Now that I look at these pictures, I am realizing that we got more talking and Chardonnay drinking done than actual sewing. But that's okay—we did get some sewing done, and it was nice to have someone to sew with for a change! Stay tuned next week for more progress on this project.

I love that you guys got together and made tree skirts. Sounds like it was a fun night. I miss you guys!
