November bee blocks

I am in just one quilting bee right now (To Bee Orange and Aqua), which is just the right number. I wanted to do a few Christmas-themed sewing swaps this year, too, but I am glad that I didn't because I have felt so busy lately that I am not even sure how I have accomplished any sewing at all.

It might be because I don't sleep. Like, really, I don't. I woke up at 4am this morning and couldn't fall back asleep, so I got up, took a shower, fixed holes/altered 3 old J.Crew sweaters, made a protein smoothie in the Vitamix, and still got into the office a whole hour early (6am).

Anyway, for November, Tina requested two simple strip blocks made with alternating linen and colored strips. Here are mine:

I love working with linen. The texture it adds is just so perfect. I couldn't resist making a little "extra" with my scraps to send off to Tina, as well—a mini pincushion.

"Extra" for Tina

Speaking of extras, I don't think I ever posted a picture of the cute little card that Tina sent me along with the Starburst blocks that she made me last month. Here it is:

This card is now safely pasted into my sewing journal next to the sketch for my Starburst mini-quilt.

Thanks, Tina. Hope you are enjoying your blocks and extra goodie as much as I am mine!

  1. I love the octopus in the card. It's so cute. I also like what you've made...a lot. I wonder why you're not sleeping?! This has been going on a for a while (I remember you telling me you'd often get up and bake at 3 in the morning!). Are you drinking coffee in the late afternoon/evening? That really affects me. You should look into it. Okay, I'm done playing Mom now.
